DelawareMelson Formula

Delaware uses the Melson Formula — one of only three states using this model. It first ensures each parent retains a self-support reserve (basic living needs). Then it calculates children's primary needs. If income remains after both, a Standard of Living Adjustment (SOLA) allocates additional support based on remaining income.
